Why Care International?

I spent my school years not having a clue what I wanted to do for a job…in some ways because there was almost too much choice.  I didn’t really have a ‘passion’ for anything at that age but had an abundance of opportunities and professions I could have gone into.

But imagine having your whole life laid out for you the day you’re born, no opportunity to change it and no way of getting yourself out of your situation.  That is what has drawn me to supporting Care International as they do incredible work in many ways, but the thing that attracted me was their aim to educate and empower girls and women.

Investing in girls’ education creates a ripple effect: educated girls tend to delay their first pregnancies, have healthier children, earn more income for the family, and are far more likely to send their own children to school.  This results in wealthier communities and the positive cycle continues.

I was lucky to have a great education and choices to make and if I can help change that situation for another school age girl then I will absolutely do it.

So the bike ride from Vietnam to Cambodia was an obvious choice and something I cannot wait to do!!! I have a lot of money to raise but I plan to do as much as I can to go over and above the target.
