Introducing SomaFlow: A Different Way to Release Deep Tension

Over the past few years, my work has naturally evolved. Many of you have known me for sports massage — a treatment often focused on pressure, intensity, and working directly into tight or painful areas.

But through both experience and ongoing learning, I’ve come to understand something important:

True, lasting muscle release doesn’t come from force — it comes from the nervous system.

This is why I’ve shifted my focus toward SomaFlow massage.

What is SomaFlow?

SomaFlow is a slower, more intuitive treatment that works with your body rather than against it. Instead of pushing through tension, it gently guides your system into a state where the body feels safe enough to let go.

Because when your body feels safe, it releases.

How does it work?

Many of us live in a constant state of low-level stress — the “fight or flight” response. In this state, muscles instinctively hold tension as a form of protection. No matter how deep the pressure, the body resists letting go because it doesn’t feel safe.

SomaFlow works differently.

Through slower, rhythmic, and intentional touch, your nervous system begins to shift into the parasympathetic state — often referred to as “rest and digest.”

In this state:

  • Muscle guarding reduces

  • Breathing deepens naturally

  • Circulation improves

  • The body becomes more receptive to release

As a result, tight tissue begins to soften without force, allowing access to deeper layers in a way that feels natural rather than invasive.

Why I’ve moved away from sports massage

While sports massage can be effective in certain situations, I’ve increasingly found that working aggressively into tissue can sometimes create more resistance rather than resolution.

When the body is in a heightened state, deeper pressure can:

  • Reinforce tension

  • Trigger protective responses

  • Lead to short-term relief but not lasting change

SomaFlow offers a different approach — one that focuses on long-term change rather than short-term intensity.

By calming the nervous system first, the body is able to release patterns of tension more effectively and sustainably.

What you may notice

Clients often describe SomaFlow as:

  • Deeply relaxing, yet surprisingly effective

  • A sense of “melting” rather than being worked on

  • Longer-lasting relief from tightness

  • Improved sleep and overall calm

It’s not about how deep the pressure feels — it’s about how deeply the body lets go.

A more sustainable way forward

This shift in my work is also about creating treatments that are more aligned with how the body truly functions — and that support both your wellbeing and mine.

SomaFlow allows for a more balanced, restorative experience for everyone involved, while still achieving the results you’re looking for.

If you’ve been feeling tense, overwhelmed, or stuck in your body, SomaFlow may offer a gentler — and more effective — way to release.

I’d love you to experience the difference.
